Nita Sweeney, award-winning author of the running and mental health memoir, Depression Hates a Moving Target: How Running with My Dog Brought Me Back from the Brink, and coauthor of the writing journal, You Should Be Writing, presents about exercise and mental health.
At 49, a chronically depressed and grief-stricken Sweeney saw a social media post from a high school friend about running. Intrigued, she leashed up her yellow Labrador retriever, laced up her running shoes, picked up a digital kitchen timer, and set out to run for sixty seconds. “Depression Hates a Moving Target” chronicles her couch-to-marathon story and her experience using exercise to manage anxiety, depression, and mania. She will also answer questions about running, mental health, her writing journey, and the new writing journal.
